Meeting Model Miranda Strafuss…

I love working on fashion photography and am so excited to share with you guys the story of fashion model Miranda Strafuss. Two years ago, I was able to spend one month in Memphis, TN with my husband on a work trip. I spent the whole month working on my craft and really experimenting with light in new ways for me.

I was able to meet Miranda through a Memphis TFP Group on Facebook, because of that I was able to make so many new contacts I never would have. She was skilled and very photogenic when It comes to being in front of the camera, which I highly appreciated. Her personality was and is spectacular and her love for bright colors almost seemed grander than that when I had to pleasure to work with her!

When I create a concept and bring it into real life, I find that the experience is almost like a journey. You don’t always get to see a picture of the destination, nor do you get to have a road map to when you truly arrive at your destination. The thrill of the chase is why creatives alike keep going back for more.

Before the Fashion Shoot…

Before our fashion shoot, I was able to head to Goodwill, get a bit of inspiration, and do a bit of thrifting. Something that comes naturally to me. I was able to put these fun and retro outfits together, as a result, I was able to push the photoshoot to the next level. I loved being to color block with the fun pants and use the softness and texture of the two tops to balance the bold bottoms.

The second outfit with the thigh-high boots creates an almost preppy school girl feel in a really fresh way. We came across a really cool location for our session. Crosstown Concourse. The building has such a beautiful twist between industrial and progressive art. Bright colors, crazy bold textures, and big windows that would make any photographer’s knees go weak! haha

The Fashion Collaborations…

I was able to work collaboratively with the amazing and truly incredible Tayler at Makeup by Tayler Menefee. Her experience and makeup application are none like I have ever seen! Plus, Tayler is a kick-ass mom of three! We did a really sutle eye with an almost cat-eye look with an extreme wing. Tayler also added a really delicate gold cut crease, as a result, the light hit the gold it created a separation from the matte face. It added just the right amount of drama to the look. This session will always be one of my favorites.

Where is Model Miranda Strafuss Now…

Since this session, Fashion Model Miranda Strafuss has stayed in the Memphis area. It has been so fun to keep track of each one of these lovely ladies over the years.
